Linoleic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid containing 18 carbon atoms and 2 double bonds. It belongs to the omega-6 (n-6) fatty acid family and is one of the essential fatty acids for the human body. Linoleic acid is used in medicine as a raw material to prevent and treat atherosclerosis. In the industrial sector, linoleic acid is used in the production of paints and inks, as well as in the production of amides, polyesters, polyurea, etc. Sodium or potassium linoleic acid is one of the components of soap and can be used as a surfactant such as emulsifier. Linoleic acid is usually present in animal and vegetable oils in the form of glycerides along with other fatty acids, with higher levels found in safflower seed oil and sunflower seed oil.
